Test Drive Results Are In for My New RKS!

Acquired a new RKS Natural Redhead Solidbody about a month ago as a changeup from my other axe, a 1959 Reissue Les Paul Custom. I am thrilled with the quality of the RKS - construction, aesthetics, ergonomics, electronics and, most of all, its sound!

My configuration: Marshall TSL-122 combo with a 2x12 cab below; PodXT Live effects floorboard, Boss Noise Supressor (for the tube/valve hum). The RKS is set up perfectly from the factory - action is smooth and easy. A little intonation issue with open 4th string, but bridge adjustment fixed that. Harmonics on the 12th fret are dead-on. All selectors are ergonomically placed - volume, tone and pickup selector switch. The 5 pickup settings give flexibility to experiment with phasing. The pickups are not quite as hot as the Gibson Burstbuckers, and that's OK as they're easier to tame. The instrument is about 2 pounds lighter than the Les Paul. It looks modern, sleek, and all my friends say it is way cool - even my college aged daughters (though they also say I can't play very well!). The RKS Solidbodies are absolutely beautiful, play easily, sound very professional and are affordable. The RKS will not replace the Les Paul Custom, but it is a worthy competitor and will receive equal playing time. I highly recommend this fine instrument.

I received my new Rosso Corsa Wave guitar on Friday 11/03/06. Since then I've spent as much time playing it as I could. It is truly a players guitar. I find myself doing fingerings that have eluded me in recent years on my '61 vintage Gibson ES330T (I'm an old guy with arthritic hands). I changed out the elixir strings for a set of D'Addario flat wound Chromes Jazz Lights (I am partial to them) and performed the appropiate neck/bridge adjustments to compensate for the change. The guitar became even more user friendly. The more you play this thing, the more you want to. It is truly amazing, has almost bell like sustain and tone combinations that seem to be limitless. I play a lot of full chord jazz melody and am partial to 40's and early 50's standards, but it kicks on classic rock stuff too. This guitar can emote as well as the music your playing on it. This guitar in my hands has tought me that you really can teach an old dog new tricks.

Thanks, I love it.
